Spirata Luminosa by Roger Carr, Jeremy Lutes, and Ed Kirshner (2003)

Spirata Luminosa is a glowing temple of light designed and built for display at Burning Man 2003. Hundreds of RGB LED light bars
light up the temple at night. The light bars are controlled by multi-channel, intelligent, RGB driver boards. The driver boards take color commands from a laptop that runs a custom written Java application which controls the lighting schemes. Ed Kirshner designed and installed a wonderful plasma sculpture in the middle of the temple. The glow of the temple is enhanced by using special cloth that captures the light from the light bars. People enjoyed gathering inside and around the temple both at night and during the day. Dawn and I provided fabrication assistance for Spirata Luminosa both off and on the playa.
